Yes - Boston, Massachusetts
[King Biscuit Flower Hour 1974]

Far from being slowed up by the departure of Rick Wakeman, Yes enlisted Patrick Moraz and went full speed ahead into the creation of "Relayer". Easily one of the most popular King Biscuit broadcasts, this show was recorded early in the "Relayer" tour when the band rolled into Boston. Compared to the meticulous, layered presentation of the studio versions, the album's tracks are presented in a much more physical fashion here. The show MVP award goes to Alan White, who is incredible from start to finish.

This performance was recorded at the Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on 11 December 1974 and first broadcast in SQ quadraphonic on the King Biscuit Flower Hour on 12 January 1975.

Thanks for this one...

In listening to this (and your other decodes) I really detect a lot of warble in the rears. I assume you are using some sort of script to do the decode. I stopped doing script stuff a long time ago because the wishiness in the rears was such a distraction.

Thanks

Hi, Romanotrax. The person who has been creating these conversions has sent this response:

Thanks for commenting. I am not exactly sure what you mean by warble, but I expect you are saying that the back channels should be sharper/cleaner. While I give it my best shot, they can always be better, and I keep on looking for ways to improve them. I use Audition for my decodes (for now anyway), I don't use scripts, as I have found that these live broadcasts sources are kind of messy, and I am having to work around limitations of each source as well as the limitations of my own skill set. So far each decode has ended up being relatively unique to itself, and I haven't been able to get a "one size fits all" approach to work as well as I would like. Also, I am always experimenting with new ways to use Audtition (or any better program I can find).

Getting back to the back channels, I would always recommend that these decodes be listened to 4 channels at a time as opposed to soloing any of the channels or pairs, as the flaws and imperfections tend to disappear in context.

Thanks again for your observations, and I'll continue to work on improving the decodes.

PS: Are you still releasing your own conversions anywhere?
